'Palestine, issue of ideological confrontation'

TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (MNA) – Iran’s Judiciary head underlined that the core of the Palestinian issue is the confrontation of ideologies not e mere occupation.

Ayatollah Sadegh Amoli larijani, who was speaking on the second day of the 6th International Conference on Palestine Intifada in Tehran, reaffirmed that Palestine is the issue of all Islamic countries.

“Looking just to the surface, it is a historical problem of occupation, war and crime; yet at its core, the issue is a ideological confrontation in which Islam has been placed against an liberal democracy ideology that supports goals of Zionism in the region,” he told the meeting.

Amoli Larijani noted the financial, military and political support of West for Zionist regime as an indicator of such confrontation; “the West has never spent such a fund for any minor group in the world.”

He continued “Palestinian issue is a serious test for humanitarian rights claims made by US and West of which they use against any nation they find in contradiction; Zionist regime’s efforts against Palestinian nation are war crimes as according to International Criminal Court directing attacks against civilians who does not participate in the conflict directly are considered war crimes.”

“Attacking hospitals, schools, cities and residential districts and using chemical weapons are all considered war crimes,” he underlined, adding “unfortunately, no shift was made in support for the regime.”

Iran’s judiciary chief also noted the cruel sanctions against Iran imposed under the claims of nuclear weapons while there was no evidence; “yet Israeli regime possesses nuclear arsenals and enjoys from international support.”

He further asserted that Palestinians and Muslims have to be resistant to achieve their ultimate goal of liberating the occupied territories.
